Creating an Mp4 Video Using Screencastify and Wevideo

Have you ever wondered how to put together multi-format documents such as Google slide, audio and video files into an mp4 video?

Well, wonder no more. In this post, I will show you just how to do so. It came from the hassle of having to open multiple files at once; a slide presentation and a video or audio file on the other.

There are two main steps to do this; first is to screen record the Google slides on presentation mode and then the next step is to put the multi-format documents together using Wevideo to create a desired mp4 video file.

Screen Recording Using Screencastify

1. Using a Chrome extension called Screencastify, record your Google slides on presentation mode.
2. The recording will automatically be saved in your drive.
3. You can edit the video on Screencastify editor itself or do it on WeVideo later.

Once installed, click the ScreenCastify icon on the tab above to record screen.

Putting it all together using Wevideo

1. On Wevideo, click on ‘Create new.’
2. On ‘Dashboard’ tab, Click on ‘My media’ tab to either import, record or narrate a video.
3. Once you have all the media that you need, drag it below to the video or audio timeline. Adjust the length or trim the audio or video where necessary.

Create a new video and importing media.

4. To overlay a video on another video, click the top video until you find the option for “open clip editor.” (pencil icon on the left)
5. Adjust the size, position or length of the video.
6. Click ‘finish’ when you’re done.
7. Name your video and click export.

You can export the completed video via email, link or drive. The great thing about these two tools is that it is cloud-based, so required no software to download or install.

I did a post related to this a while ago about using both Screencastify and WeVideo. You can find it here and also here.
